"Positive performance by NICO"

Dubai-headquartered NICO International has confirmed high levels of business for both its riding squad and drydock-based ship repair operations in 2017. The company states that over 3500 individual afloat repair jobs were completed onboard various types of vessels during the course of last year. Additionally, Nico successfully completed over 57 drydocking jobs from its bases in Dubai and Fujairah.

Key clients included CMA CGM, Maersk Line, Svitzer and Zamil Offshore, among others. One of the biggest voyage repair projects undertaken by Nico in 2017 involved the conversion of eight Maersk Line vessels to run on Marine Gas Oil (MGO) while they were at sea. Nico also completed lashing bridge modifications on voyage for four CMA CGM containerships. For the first quarter of 2018 Nico reports an increase in main engine repair jobs, both at the Fujairah anchorage and on voyage, while there has been a ‘promising’ requirement for more steel renewal jobs.

As part of ongoing efforts to further strengthen its position as a one-stop repair service provider with expertise in various disciplines, NICO International has entered into a number of agreements with third parties in recent months. The latest deal involves a sales and service agreement with Jeumont Electric, a well-known French company specialising in innovative solutions for power conversion and power generation. Through the new alliance NICO aims to further strengthen its power and energy sector capabilities in both the marine and industrial sectors.
